A license plate with the words “Georgia Tech” is a nod to Georgia State University in Athens, Georgia, and the school’s football program, according to a post on the university’s Twitter account.
The Georgia Tech University flag features a yellow dot with the letters “TU” and “GE” in the middle.
Georgia Tech is the official state school of Georgia, with the name derived from the state’s name, which is also spelled with the letter “T.”
The university said it is “deeply honored” to have been featured on a Georgia license tag.
The university says the plate was designed by Georgia Tech alumnus, who is also a graphic designer.
The tag was created by a graphic design company.
“It’s a great honor to be featured on such a great plate, and we hope that it inspires others to do the same,” said the tweet.
Georgia Tech is also the official school of the state of Alabama.
